Route Sage - the healing herb
Salvia officinalis
Sage is the silvery-gray
dried leaf of an evergreen shrub of the
mint family. It is known to have originated
in Dalmatia, a region on the shores of the
Adriatic Sea in Yugoslavia. It has the same
pungency level of Thyme and Rosemary with
an aroma that is fresh and head clearing.
Garden Sage is the most widely used variety
today.
Sage obtains its name
from 'Salvere'- meaning to save or to heal.
Its pungent properties are known to have
excellent therapeutic effects.
Sage
grown in our farms are harvested and dried
using a unique process to retain the volatile
oils and aroma.
Sage goes well with soups,
stew, meats, pork, duck preparations and
most foods that are cooked for a long time.
