Route Marjoram - the herb of happiness
Marjorana hortensis
Marjoram grows in most
climatic conditions and their leaves have
a character similar to that of Thyme, rendering
a slight bitterness and camphor like lingering
flavour. Its flavour is similar to Oregano,
but milder. The commonly used sweet Marjoram
is the variety used most often in cooking.
Marjoram
grown in our farms is harvested when the
plants are in full flower and when their
vitality and flavour is at the peak. They
are dried using a unique process to retain
their pleasant aromatic odour and mild taste.
Marjoram complements most
Italian dishes, pork, tomatoes, pastas and
meat gravies. It is believed to be the symbol
of happiness in ancient Roman and Egyptian
cultures
